A 31 year old named Kevin Ighodalo (pictured above), has been
sentenced to 45 years imprisonment by an Osogbo High Court for
stealing a Sony Ericsson phone said to be worth about N50,000
belonging to Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State. Below is how
Punch is reporting it
Ighodalo stole the phone from the pocket of Aregbesola on November 27,
2010, when the governor was being inaugurated at Government Technical
College, Osogbo.
Justice Oyejide Falola, who heard the case, found Ighodalo guilty on
six counts, which included conspiracy, stealing and fraud.
He was sentenced to 10-year imprisonment for the first three counts
and five years for each of the last three which included
impersonation, obtaining property by falsehood and collusion.
Falola, who ruled that Ighodalo deserved the jailterm, held that the
convict used the phone to obtain N500, 000 from the Owa of Ilesa, Oba
Adekunle Aromolaran, while he obtained N200, 000 from Mr Shengen
Rahman, an associate of the governor.
The jail term, which Falola pronounced will run concurrently, means
that Ighodalo will spend the next 10 years behind bars.
Assistant principal state counsel, Mr Biodun Badiora, told the court
that the convict had served six-year imprisonment in Ikoyi prison
custody in connection with a murder case in 2005.
Counsel to Ighodalo, Mr. Ameachi Ngwu, prayed the court to commit him
to community service, stressing that the convict should not be
incarcerated but rather be placed where people could see him as a
convict.

hanging on a tree in a forest at Achara Community, a boundary town in
the Abakaliki Local Government Area of Ebonyi.
The body was found in a decomposing state, indicating that the man must
have died sometime last week.
Residents of the had condemned the incident, describing it as an abomination.
They have since reported the matter to the police division in the area
as the man could not be immediately identified.
When contacted, the Ebonyi State Police Command's Public Relations

He, however, said that the circumstance surrounding the death of the
man had yet to be unravelled.
Igbo said that the police had begun investigations to determine both
the identity and the remote cause of the death.
"This is a case of suicide. It is not a normal death. We are
investigating the remote and immediate causes behind the death of the
man.
"We have told the community leaders to spread information around to
ascertain his true identify and place of origin
"So far, nobody has come up to claim ownership of the body while the
Ebonyi State Environmental Protection Agency had been informed to

"When it was reported, the police got to the scene and discovered that
the victim carefully removed his clothes before hanging himself,''
Igbo said.
Meanwhile, the Coordinator of the AbakalikiDevelopment Centre, Mrs
Franca Okpo, had condemned the act, wondering why such a young man
should decide to terminate his own life.

"When you look at the entire scenario, you will discover that it was a
well arranged suicide mission put in place by the man,'' shesaid.
The decomposing corpse of the victim was later deposited at the
Federal Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki. (NAN)

Dear readers: Can you suddenly stop loving someone?

From a male
When I say suddenly, I mean out of nowhere, just like that, without
any reason or explanations everything you've ever felt is gone.I was
madly in love with this girl for a year and nine months. In fact I was
planning to propose toher on our second year anniversary when all of
asudden I woke up and all my feelings for her was gone. She didn't do
or say anything wrong. Nothing about her changed. Nothing about me
changed. We didn't even have an argument. One minute we were talking
about going on a vacation together and the next minute I stop picking
her calls and started avoiding her. It's been four months now since my
feelings for her changed and I still can't make sense of it. She wants
answers, she wants to know what she didwrong, why I all of a sudden
ended things with her. She thinks I met someone else but I didn't. I
just stopped loving her and didn't want her anymore. What happened to
me? How can I find my way back to her?

20 women raped, police van burnt as hoodlums invade Agbarha-Otor

By EMMA AMAIZE & FESTUS AHON, Ughelli
THERE is apprehension in Agbarha-Otor kingdom in Ughelli North Local
Government Area of Delta State following a reign of terror unleashed
on the people by hoodlumsin the last few days.
The Area Commander, Ughelli, Assistant Commissioner of Police, ACP,
Awosola Awotinde confirmed to Saturday Vanguard that 34 persons were
in police net in connection with the orgy of violence.
It was gathered that no fewer than 20 women and girls, including an
eight-year-old daughter of the Vicar of an Anglicanchurch in the
community were raped by the hooligans, who also set ablaze a police
patrol vehicle.
A number of police officers were, at the outset, sent to the palace of
the monarch of Agbarha-Otor, His Royal Majesty Richard Oghenevwogaga,
Ebelle-Okorefe I, to securethe king's abode following a breakdown of
law and order in the community, Wednesdaynight, but rampaging hoodlums
overpowered them.
At press time, last night, the monarch has relocated from the palace
for safety reason, while the Area Commander, Ughelli, has reinforced
security in the town. Saturday Vanguard also sighted soldiers in the
troubled community.
The hooligans, numbering about 100 were angry that the monarch refused
to participate in the traditional "Ekene" festival on grounds that he
is a Christian.
According to our source, "they wanted the king to make sacrifice to
the deity, but he refused, saying he is a Christian and they should go
ahead without him contributing money or cooking for them during the
feast, as some of the priests and chiefs demanded.
"His refusal to take part in the feast infuriated the hooligans, who
vowed to foment trouble and they executed their mission on Wednesday,
the last day of the feast. The unfortunate thing is that some chiefs
even supported their rebellion," he added.
Saturday Vanguard learnt that hoodlums allegedly expelled from the
community because of their criminal escapades, started with the
clergyman because it was in his church that the king held a
thanksgiving service recently.
Besides raping the clergyman's eight-year-old daughter, hospitalized
because of the incident and other girls, they also hijacked the
property of people, claiming that the deity wanted them.
A community leader said, the miscreants engaged in raping of women
(married and single) since the festival, which is held once every 15
years started on 27th of March. It took a worrisome dimension
Wednesday night as they invaded the Church's vicarage, destroyed and
looted properties worth thousands of naira after making the vicar and
his households undergo some inhuman treatments."
According to our source, "on their way from the vicarage, they invaded
the shop of the Queen Mother of Agbarha-Otor and raided her shop; they
stole wines and practically every other thing in the shop and also
vandalized the freezer."

I regret being a divorcee – Monalisa Chinda

BENJAMIN NJOKU
Two things are bound to attract you to Monalisa Chinda whenever you
are privileged to engage her in a conversation. They are her frankness
and humility. These attributes played out last week as Showtime
Celebrity took her on a trip into her past, her present and perhaps,
her future. For the first time, Lisa bares her mind on a number of
issues bothering on her love life, crashed marriage and
accomplishments.Chiefly, she confirms that she has found love again,
not ruling out however, the possibilityof giving marriage a second
chance. Enjoy!!!
Find love again
Do you still believe in love ?
http://d12nfihn4mbl66.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/Monalisa-Chinda-2.jpg?119b56
Monalisa Chinda
I believe in love. Love is the reason for our existence. It's really
not enough if you want to get something done, you have to do away
with that emotion and be real.
Are you religious?
I'm from a religious background. I 'm an Anglican and all the moral
teachings I learntwhile I was growing up are still there till date.
While I was seven, I was a member of my church choir . I attended an
Anglican school, Archdeacon Memorial Grammar School, it's a convent
school. I'm quite religious.
How did you feel when your father was murdered?
Every day that passes by, I think of that man.God bless his soul. He
was the reason, I'm doing what I am doing at the moment. My late dad
was a philanthropist. He would giveout the last money in his pocket to
those who do not have. I took after my Dad, whereas my mum was a
career woman.
My dad ensured that his children were well taken care of, in all
ramifications. He was a good cook and he spent greater part of his
life in Germany. As far as I'm concerned, my dad was a German. He was
always in the forefront of ensuring that his children were well
catered for. But my mum was a career woman before she retired.
We learnt that you are planning to go into marriage again. Is it true?
I would love to remarry. In fact, I'm designedto be under a man. I'm
not going to lie that I like this 'single mother nomenclature. But
whereby there is no one at the moment, oneis bound to get used to the
situation. It's not a 'do- or -die affair' because I have been there
before, anything I'm going to do now,it has to be done right.
I'm not in the school of thought, where the first one happened and
perhaps, the second one. No, any bold step I have to take in settling
down again, it has to be right. I'm not ready to make another mistake.
But I will definitely remarry. I believe in the principles of
marriage. Whether you like it ornot, marriage is a better option.
How soon are you planning to settle down?
I honestly don't know about that, and I can't tell for now.
Have you found love again?
It's neither here nor there. I'm a lover and I love to love.
It was rumoured recently that you have found love again?
Is there anything wrong with that? I just replied you that I love to
love. What else do you want to know.
Your fans would want to know if there is any man in your life at the moment?
Yes, there is a man in my life.
…Lanre Nzeribe right?
No comment. This is my private life.
People are alleging that you are pregnant for him?
You can see that I'm not pregnant. Naturally, I'm not pregnant for anybody.
What do you regret most about your past?
One thing I regret most is the fact that I am divorced. Where I come
from, I'm the first daughter. I'm from a royal family, it has never
been on record in my family that the first daughter will walk out of
her matrimonial home. But it was a matter of life and death,
otherwise, I would have stayed back and make my marriage work. I
tried to make it work, but it takes two people to tango.
That's the only thing I regret, having to raise my child without the
father. It's a bit painful. But I have to live with it. It's better
that way than to expose my little daughter to all sorts of domestic
violence. It will definitely disorient her and affect her upbringing.
She will be dis-functional. God knows the best. May be, I should have
been more careful.
http://d12nfihn4mbl66.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/Monalisa-Chinda-1.jpg?119b56
Monalisa Chinda
With such shocking experience, what would you say life has taught you?
I' m a bit stronger and wiser now than before. I have known how not to
get involved in anything emotional again. If you are emotional even
in a relationship, you don't get to think. One shouldn't allow her
emotion to overrule her sense of reasoning.
I have understood what it means to be patient to persevere and also,
to be careful with people around me. If somebody aroundyou is your
very good friend, you end up finding that the person is actually an
enemy in disguise. I have learnt all of that because Ihave been alone.
While my marriage was intact, I was not keeping friends. After I'm
through with my work, I usually retire to myhouse. But since I'm
alone, and having to mixup with a lot of people, I have realised that
Ihave to be very careful and free-minded andat the same time, be
myself.
In the midst of all these challenges, what would you say has kept you going?
I'm a very strong woman, and open-minded.I know who I am. I'm a Godly
person, but I'm not a perfectionist. If I do something wrong, I will
always find a way to show remorse and repent of whatever sin I might
have committed. That has kept me going. I'm highly determined and
focused. I do not go by what people say about me.
If your ex- comes back to you today, will you accept him again?
God forbid. He's a closed chapter in my life.
Does it mean your little daughter is not missing her father?
She doesn't know her father . She was barely a year when our marriage
crashed. I think she will ask some day.
Share your experience with us as a Glo ambassador?
It has been rewarding for me. Activities always come up here and
there, going around, talking about the brand. Glo has made a long
lasting mark in the country.
How do you describe yourself?
I'm just the girl-next-door. I don't have manyears around me, I try to
be humble. I want people to be able to reach out to me. I'm not a
difficult person. I'm an easy-going lady.
You recently premiered your latest movie, Weekend Getway, What's the
movie all about?
http://d12nfihn4mbl66.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/Monalisa-Chinda-200.jpg?119b56
Monalisa Chinda
First of all, the premiere was successful. I thank God for that. A
lot of people turned out to show their support. The movie was produced
by myself ,Ini Edo and Emem Isong. It was directed by Desmond Elliot.
It paraded A-list actresses, both young and old ones in the industry.
We had to create a platform where up and coming actors star alongside
seasoned actors which made the film more unique. The movie is already
selling out in the cinemas. Between last Friday when it was premiered
and yesterday( last week), we have made substantial amount of money
from the box office alone. I also acted in the movie.
What are your recent movies?
Kiss &Tell which was produced in 2010 but premiered in 2011. My second
movie, Cat Walk was shot in 2010, but premiered in February, 2012.
My third movie, Weekend Getway, premiered forth-night ago.
Why did you go into production of movies?
Producing has always been at the back of my mind as an actress. In
fact, I should speakthe minds of a lot of people who are in the art.
They want to diversify and break new grounds and to also show the
various thingsthey can do. Naturally, we all want to try our hands in
other things as long as it's within the genre of entertainment.
That's the reason I wanted to do something different. Right now, I'm
even going into live theatre which is already dying in this country.
Thespians like myself and a few other people are trying to revive the
dying live theatre culture in the country.
Was it why you staged a dance-drama, "Dance for Life' last December?
Yes, because the first outing was actually sponsored by myself. That's
why I want to see how I can get corporate bodies to partner with me
for the the second edition of the dance project which I want it to
come up on May29.
Do you dance?
As a Thespian, we all do the three arms of theatre including Dance ,
Music and Acting. These are the three arms of theatre, so you must be
able to do the three and then, specialize in one.
Last December outing, was it the first time you actually involved in dance ?
Yes, it was the first time I would dance in public. I've never done
that before in my life. I only danced while I was in the university.
As an artiste, we were involved in all sorts ofperformances way back
in school.
How did you feel that fateful day?
I had mixed-feelings because of the massiveturn-out of celebrities.
Again, it was becauseof the fact that a lot of people enjoyed
themselves and they didn't want to go homeagain. So, I was in between
rolling myself on the floor with tears of joy and also, praying that
this kind of dance project should continue. It was a divine feeling.
Did the project actualise your dream of reviving live theatre in Nigeria?
Yes, I've always wanted to do exactly that. I've always wanted to
find an opportunity torevive the dying live theater in the country.
People look at dance as a non-productive act, but I don't think so
because dance is even more vigorous than acting. You have tolove the
art, love theatre and singing before you can be able to have a grasp
of the message. The performer on stage is trying to understand the
message being put acrossthrough dance.
Since you delved into movie production what has been your challenges?
It's been a good experience, and also, knowing that I'm getting
older, I need to step aside for the emerging actresses to excel. But
even at that, it's really difficult forthem. I think some of the fresh
actresses are joining Nollywood for different reasons and probably not
for the love of the industry. They just have this silly idea that if I
hit the screen, people would see me and like my face as well. It's not
done like that.
If you call for an audition today, and about four thousand people show
up, you will be shocked to find out that not up to five of them have
what it takes to be an actress. The five people would have rigorous
screening before they are able to deliver their lines. That also is a
very big challenge. That's why we keep recycling a lot of knownfaces
even when we are getting older and tired. We still try to look slim
and young, competing favourably with the younger ones.
Do you intend to go solo in your next movie?
Yes, I will like to go solo in my next movie just to see what it's
like not wanting to do the movie with anybody else. But I will still
engage seasoned directors to direct my movie. But I want to be the
solo financier and solo producer o f my next movie. That will happen
before the end of this year.
We learnt you are planning to launch a perfume line?
Yes, I've already started and I'm planning todo a launch of the
perfume in future. The product is called Monalisa Mcold Beauty
Products. That's the brand name I'm using for now. I have a factory
outside Lagos where the fragrances are produced. They took samples of
my skin to test if the products are good for human consumption. We are
producing body cream, age defining hand creams, body mix for men and
women and soap.

It was learnt that Happiness who hailed from Umuchima in Uburu town of the LGA, having been hurt by the promiscuous attitude of Oyelara allegedly used a broken bottle and stabbed him on his left eye without considering the consequences of her action.
Meanwhile, when our correspondent visited Corper Oyelara at the Federal Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki, he denied that the two ladies were his friends, insisting that they (the ladies) usually bring vegetables for him to buy until when both of them met in his house and engaged in fight.
According to him, when the fight started, he left to go and report the matter to their parents when Happiness caught up with him and stabbed him on his left eye. However, investigation revealed that the two ladies are single mothers; one with 3 children and the other with 2 kids purportedly from different men.
Contacted, the Ebonyi State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Sylvester Igbo confirmed that the two Uburu ladies had been arrested over the incident as investigation were on to unravel the remote causes that made Happiness to stab the victim on his left eye having been aware that the corps member had difficulty in seeing with his right eye.
He added that investigation had proven that the victim was dating the two ladies, Happiness and Maria before the unfortunate incident occurred.

"I'm still in love with Jim Iyke' - actress Stephnora Okere confesses

Actress Stephnora Okere and Jim Iyke dated for a while many years back and according to an interview she granted Stella Dimoko Korkus in this week's Encomium magazine, she's still in love with him. Excerpts from the interview:
"I've been maintaining a low profile because of the fact that I wanted to re-arrange myself for the future having made one or two mistakes in the past.
SDK: "What mistakes are you referring to? As an actress or your personal life?"
Stephnora: "Both. First as an actress, I allowed myself to put on weight and that is not good for the kind of profession I'm in. When I gained weight, I lost a lot of offer for movie roles. My personal life mistake concerns my involvement in a marriage process that never scaled through. I got involved with someone with someone who doesn't understand what the word love means. It took me being involved in that relationship to realise what true love really means. It made me realise that I had loved and still do love someone else."
Yep, you guessed right, she's still in love with Jim Iyke. I hope single Jim Iyke reads this blog...lol. Continue to see the rest of the interview...

SDK: Who exactly are you referring to that you still love?
Stephnora: I still love Jim Iyke
SDK: Wow, that's some revelation. I am sure even Jim Iyke will be shocked to read this. He must have impacted on you strongly.
Stephnora: Jim was and is still the best friend I've ever had. He was not just around, he was there as a friend, brother, lover, companion. He was always there. He understood me.

Sports Illustrated Model, Adaora Akubilo, Responds To Her Critics

You all saw her Sports Illustrated photos some weeks back and some of you criticized her. The sexy Nigerian-American Sports Illustrated model has responded to the criticisms. She tells Culture Shock Nigerians:
Well, what I would say about the blog posts and the nudity thing, my father is very proud of me, first and foremost. I am a well rounded individual. I did everything he wanted me to do, and kind of like what I wanted to do, like going to school, getting my education, and this is just something that I’m adding to my resume and my life achievements and accomplishments so he’s very proud of me.  And as long as I’m happy that’s all he cares about.
[My photos] are done in a tasteful way.  I’m not out there, boobs all out {laughs}. Like I’m being a little coy with it, you know, I’m kind of like hiding it a little bit.  I’m hiding my boob, it’s not all out there like hello {laughs]. No one knows what my nipples look like.
It’s not all out there.  It’s done in a very tasteful way and I would never compromise myself.  If I wasn’t comfortable doing it and if I felt like I was in some way doing something that would embarrass my family, I would never do anything that would embarrass my family or myself for that matter.
So nudity done in a tasteful way, and if you’re comfortable, God created these bodies of ours, you know, I’m just celebrating it.  And getting paid at the same time so that’s a good thing.

BREAKING NEWS: Man, 53, remanded for allegedly raping 2-year-old

MARARABA — An Upper Area Court in Mararaba, Nasarawa State, yesterday, remanded a 53-year old security man, Daniel Kura, of Aunty Alice, Mararaba, in prison for allegedly raping a two-year old girl.
The police prosecutor, Mr Stephen Kwaza, told the court that the matter was reported by the victim’s father at Sani Abacha Police Station on April 1.
Kwaza said the accused deceived the minor and forcefully had carnal knowledge of her on Monday. He said the offence contravened provisions of  the Penal Code.
The prosecutor objected to the court granting bail to the accused because the matter was still being investigated.
He said the allegation against the accused was not a bailable offence and that the victim was undergoing treatment.
However, the accused pleaded not guilty to the charge. The Judge, Mr Vincent Gwahemba, granted the prayers and ordered the accused to be remanded in prison and adjourned the case to April 29 for further mention.
The Chairman, Oba-in-Council of the town, the Atunluse of Ayoboland, Chief Sunday Akpan, said the terrorists were actually from NigerRepublic and that the Hausa community too needed to ensure that the impostors are fished out to avoid unnecessary bloodshed in the state.
In his remark, representative of the Divisional Police Officer of Ipaja Divisional Police Headquarters, ASP Sunny Ejenkpokpo, said men and officers of the division were more than ready to ensure adequate security in the community and solicited the cooperation of the residents because, according to him, “security is a communal effort.”
